It is not standard credit, but "bonus credit" that can only be used for SMS, calls and data. Do you have a link about the play credit? I will only use the phone as a bluetooth music player to my wireless speaker, Chromecast control, Spotify remote control app which I bought. Nice one. I got two from my local HN. Then I tell them they can keep them for bonus cool points!

I'm going to get more, the google credit is not locked to any account, and can think of plenty of uses for this phone- spy cam, kids toy for the car, solar monitor.

Hack Phone Into Spy Phone

This was posted 5 years 2 months 26 days ago, and might be an out-dated deal. Go to Deal. I guess it is locked to Telstra… Could you unlock it by loading cyanogenmod? Yeah of course as a basic phone but too less ram for fb, whatapps, etc.

I think with bluetooth to dock should be OK, right? BTW I heard that you can use Telstra prepaid credit as google play credit, how to do it? Haven't tried it yet with my OW phone, but hopefully will work!

Thanks for the information. You can't. Surprised with this phone, it's not bad. I mean, it has a headphone jack, for instance Last edited by ichemandrew on Fri Mar 30, pm. Don't suppose this will support Project Treble, will it? Thing would be painfully slow and I'd never buy one, but it'd still be nifty if you could do that on a Go device. It does support WiFi, but an older standard: Coming from the PC perspective, phone obsolescence follows an unfamiliar and unpleasant pattern, especially on the Android side; higher specs don't necessarily keep a device current longer because 'obsolete' is what happens when either Qualcomm or your carrier get bored of supporting you; rather than when the prevailing software overtakes what your hardware can handle.

If obsolescence were PC-style; there would be little reason at least in parts of the world wealthy enough for these to be a common option not to just buy the flagship from two-three years ago instead of some built-to-be-cheap widget: similar cost; probably better build quality and specs.

Since it isn't, something that was released two or three years ago, while its specs are better than a cheapy released today, is dangerously likely to be running out of vendor attention span; while the cheapy released today has just begun running down its deathwatch. Wouldn't mind having one of these for international travel.

3 Secret ZTE Phone Features You Must Know

Can keep my real phone out of TSA hands and not care if something happens to it while I'm traveling. As long as it works without "Budget bloat" it looks good? And by Budget bloat i mean the 50 apps the carrier puts on to subsidize the phone because they were paid to bake it into firmware.

I don't think so. Most carriers are moving to LTE to save money when they get to that point of shutting down older towers.

Now that time period is over and they want everyone to move on. Andrewcw wrote:. I guess I have to volunteer to be "that guy" and ask, where are these manufactured? ZTE is a Chinese company. There's a lot of not entirely unfounded talk about "spying" involved in these things. While initially, I didn't see a huge need for "low end phone spying", just reading the comments here makes me wonder if there isn't something to the idea after all.

A LOT of folks are talking about using this for work, or for travel - two high value targets for a variety of kinds of spying baked into the hardware I imagine it's trivially easy to reflash the ROM with the Go configuration from Google, yes? No, I'm NOT being paranoid. This is just the world we live in. The consideration of cheap second phone versus the potential however remote that may be of having a cheap "bugged phone" for work or travel is, sadly, one that probably should be weighed for those thinking about using it for those purposes.

It'd be wonderful if we lived in a world where we could just trust products like this from anyone. And I'll admit I could be way off base on this. But were I a super-villain wanting to spy on my enemies, I'd offer them a cheap phone, along with expensive phones, to cover all the bases. In an ideal world, this would be horribly paranoid on my part. Unfortunately, it's far from an ideal world. Everyone needs to do the calculus themselves on that, of course. I'm sure this won't be one of my more popular posts, but damn it, someone needed to bring it up if only to introduce a touch of reality to the decision-making process.
